Part of our customer service is ensuring that each and every one of our clients are well-informed regarding they’re heating and cooling system. Below we have designed a series of the most frequently asked questions we hear on a daily basis. We hope they are helpful and if you have any further questions we will look forward to hearing from you in the near future!

Q. Our furnace is much older & we want to lower our
energy bills. What would you recommend?

A. Of course, the most inexpensive decision would be to simply replace the insulation, however it may not be the most cost effective. Before making any final decision our energy experts at Day & Night Service recommend you take a few factors under consideration. You should always consider the age of the home, the efficiency of the furnace and the amount of insulation currently in the furnace is also important. The average lifespan of a furnace is between 10-15 years. Once it begins to age it begins to lose efficiency. Something else to consider, if you upgrade the insulation of the home at the time you purchase a new furnace you may not only be able to purchase a smaller, more cost effective furnace, but ultimately you should see a dramatic change in your energy costs!
Q. Even though my neighbor has children and are home more than me, my energy costs are always higher. Why?

A. There are many factors, which contribute to the cause for difference in energy between two different households so the possibility of getting an accurate interpretation is highly unlikely. However some things to consider would be the age of the appliances, especially refrigerators, air conditioners, washers and dryers etc. Also how well is your home weatherized? Does it leak air through doors and windows? There are many factors to consider however above are just a few. If you have any questions on what you can do reduce your energy expense feel free to ask the professionals at Day & Night Service. We will be glad to make any necessary suggestions we can.

Q. How often should my filters be cleaned or replaced?

A. It is recommended to inspect your filters at least once a month. Cleaning and replacement should be done depending on the amount of usage. In able to maintain maximum efficiency of your heating and cooling system, the "golden rule" to replacement is the cleaner the better!

Q. What does the term “SEER” rating mean?

A. SEER is an acronym that stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio. An air conditioner's SEER rating tells you how efficient the unit is utilizing electricity. A unit manufactured prior to 1992 had a SEER rating of 6.0. In 1992 the government set forth a measurement of minimum SEER rating standards which must be 10.0. In able to be considered a high efficiency unit, the unit must be between 12.0 and 20.0. Feel free to ask the professionals of Day & Night Service about ALL the benefits of a high efficiency unit. We will be happy to assist you.

A. There are four factors, which equally provide you the

a. Temperature
b. Fresh And Clean Air
c. Humidity
d. System Control

a. Temperature- If asked most people would agree temperature is both the beginning and end of discussion when talking about comfort. In reality temperature is just the foundation of comfort in your heating and cooling system.

b. Fresh And Clean Air- No matter how warm your home may be on a cold day or how cool it is in the summer, if a home is dusty and dirty, especially for patients who suffer from asthma or other allergies, it will be extremely uncomfortable. A home that is equipped with a high efficiency heating and cooling system, such as the latest innovation by TRANE, the XL19i will not only continually keep the air circulated within the home but also assist to remove impurities in the air which can be detrimental to our over-all health. According to recent report by the EPA or ENVIROMENTAL Protection Agency, it was stated that air quality inside your home was one of top five of concerns for Americans today and that the air inside was actually more harmful than the air we breath outside. Because 90% of our time we spend indoors it is imperative that we take every necessary precaution available to ensure a good clean bill of health.

c. Humidity- Humidity can be quite ironic. During the winter months, dry air can cause static electricity, itchy, dry skin, damage to home furnishings and much, much more. Adding humidity to the air can make the air warmer and more comfortable, also minimizing damage to furniture. During summer months, you want to remove the humidity making the air cooler and less sticky.

d. System Control- Many homeowners complain of an inconsistency of temperature from room to room, up and down temperature swings and having to constantly adjust the thermostat. A thermostat which self-adjusts, allowing a "comfort schedule" will not only balance out the temperature throughout the home but also provide "total comfort". The XL Comfort Series by TRANE does exactly that and more. Feel free to ask the professionals at Day & Night Service about the benefits of a programmable thermostat.

Q. Is it necessary to "Match” my indoor unit with the
    outside unit?

A. If you compare your air conditioning system to the tires of your car, then when you make the investment to purchase new tires, you would always buy four at a time so that they would wear evenly. Your air conditioning system has the very same concept. If your indoor coil were made by the excellence of TRANE then it would make sense that your outdoor unit would also be a TRANE product. Your air conditioning system is a two-part mechanism. Each part is uniquely designed to partner perfect with the other. Consequently it is essential that both parts are not only made by the same manufacturer, but also have equal quality. As an authorized dealer for TRANE and a licensed air conditioning specialist, the Master Technicians of Day & Night Service will gladly recommend a system customized to meet your needs. Feel free to call 214-339-1171 to schedule a consultation at your convenience!

Q. Should my thermostat be set in the "Auto" or "On" position?

A. To maintain maximum efficiency your thermostat should always remain in the "Auto" position.

     including its function and benefit?

A. Basically an air to air heat pump is an air conditioner with the capability of reversing it’s cycle in able to provide heating in the wintertime and cooling in the summer months, Their "switching" mechanism is designed to remove the heat from the outside air and bring it indoors. Because air source heat pumps are not actually creating heat but simply moving it from one place to another they are much more cost effective than electric powered heaters. Another benefit would be for those who are unable to receive gas services the air source heat pump is another option. If you have any questions regarding an air source heater please feel free to ask the experts at Day & Night Service.
